Fourth Annual Twin Cities Meditation-Thon Set for Feb. 10-17
Just prior to the Losar, the Tibetan Lunar New Year, KTC Sangha, Patrons and Volunteers will again sit in meditation for seven days straight, 24 hours a day, dedicated to relief from suffering for all sentient beings. The 2007 Meditation-Thon will begin at 8 a.m. on February 10, 2007 and continue until 8 a.m. on February 17th. The 2007 Tibetan New Year falls on February 18th for the Karma Kagyu Lineage. KTC is again asking both individuals and businesses to sponsor each minute of this peaceful, healing meditation.
The financial support generated by this event is intended to accomplish four objectives:
- To raise money for KTC's general operations and special projects. The general operations fund supports a KTC Sangha dedicated to preserving the complex and precious system of practices of the Karma Kagyu Lineage of Tibet. These practices are very much at risk of extinction in their native land. To lose them now when we are just beginning to understand their true benefit would be a tragedy of monumental proportions.
- To relieve suffering for all sentient beings.
- To benefit the larger community around us, and help individuals with special requests.
- To facilitate the human conciousness transformation nonseparate from the paradigm shift or renaissance currently happening in our culture.
Please contribute to the 2007 Meditation-Thon. Last year generous support for the Meditation-Thon raised more than 19% of our annual budget. KTC is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, which means your contribution is tax deductible.
Ways to Sponsor the Meditation-Thon
Individual Sponsors for Meditation Minutes
Similar to a walk-a-thon or a bike-a-thon, each of our sangha members is seeking sponsors for their meditation during the round-the-clock sitting the week of the 10th-17th of February at the rate of $1 per minute of meditation. A KTC sangha member will sit in meditation one minute for each dollar you contribute! Contributions can be made simply and safely using PayPal online on our web site at this location. You do not need a PayPal account. If you do not have a particular meditator that you want to sponsor our Lama, working on your behalf, will allocate the meditation minutes that you sponsor to a sangha Meditation-Thon volunteer.
Take a real step toward Peace On Earth! Give the gift of meditation! Your donation may be dedicated to an individual or cause that you designate. In addition, if you provide us with an email and/or mailing address, KTC will communicate via mail and/or email your gift of sponsorship to the designated person. Gift contributions are the same as regular donations and can be made online on our web site at this location. Use the online approach if you are unable to contact a sangha member directly to set up a gift donation. When no Sangha member is involved our Lama, working on your behalf, will allocate the meditation minutes that you sponsor as a gift to a sangha Meditation-Thon volunteer. To designate the gift recipient online a message link will be provided on a Thank You page to which you will be returned after completing our online payment process (courtesy of PayPal).

Business Sponsors
We are very happy and encouraged to receive support from business. There are five business sponsor levels: Wish Fulfilling Jewel -- $5,000; Emerald-- $2,000; Ruby-- $1,000; Turquoise -- $500; and Red Coral - ($100 - $499).
Business sponsors receive the following:
- Feature article about your business on our blog;
- Opportunity to receive meditation instruction for an interested group of your employees (top-three levels only);
- Inclusion of your business name and logo as a business member on our Internet site during the sponsored year with links to your feature article.
